Sai Brushes by DocSinistar Sai Brushes by DocSinistar
A few brush settings I made for Paint Tool SAI. BIG FILE!!

All the Inking bushes are made from creating a new "Pencil"

All the Paint brushes are made from creating a new "Brush"

The Eraser is made from creating a new "Eraser"

A few side-note tips:

For the "Painterly" brushes keep the density low (20%) to get good blending and high (80%) for details.

If you want the lines to be super smooth reduce the noise, paper and spread to 0

I set my default line Smoothing to 9. Itís right next to the Horizontal Flip just under Help/Config.

The Real Eraser works really well when sketching. It doesnít rub everything away in an instant.

For those like me who get annoyed by that digital blob/flick at the end of brush strokes you can kind of remedy this by going to Help/Config> Options> Tablet> In the Click Detection Pressure box set the number to 10% or higher.

Also in the Tools Tab in Options tab you might want to change the Eye Dropper Colour Source to canvas so you donít have to switch layers to pick colours all the time when painting.

There are quite a few versions of Sai out there with different Tabís and Texture Packs so ask if you get lost or need help. Just be patient with me. :)

The pencil tool for sketching is over here if you need it: [link]

Have Fun!

Hello X3
Thanx for making these!
I was wondering...
whats the difference between "Toon Ink" and "normal ink"?

Like visually...cuz i dont see much a difference >.<
They look nice tho, i'm just curious X3

Sorry for the late reply!

"Toon Ink" is for long broad stokes.

"Normal ink" works more like a thin micron pen or fine liner. Short strokes.

hello, thank you for you tut. but I have a problem, whatever I do with the settings like ''smoothing'' which are supposed to make smooth, clean, and the lines have that effect of going from thick to thin. nothing changes, they still are the same thickness everywhere.

do you might have an idea why this might be this way?

Smoothing is more of a stabilizer than anything. What kind of graphic tablet are you using?

I was actually using a mouse before, but I have a tablet now.
it's called Wacom Bamboo I believe

Ah, that wacom usually works great with Sai but it might be to do with its settings. Do you get thick to thin in other programs?
You can control thick to thin with brushes by changing the settings here: funkyimg.com/i/GkH2.jpg

Ok, try this. Unplug and Uninstall the wacom tablet. Reboot your computer. Install the tablet again with the cd and when it has all done installing, plug in the tablet again.

Tablets can act funny when you plug them in before installing. Are you using windows or mac?
Let me know how it goes.

Ahhhhhh. Ok, what you will need is drivers. Wacom tablets are not fully plug and play. It will move but you don't get all the features like pressure.

You will need drivers from their official website here: us.wacom.com/en/support/driver… (Latest Drivers for Bamboo Tablets)
Let me know how you get along.

Ah, you must have a different version of Sai. All versions have the same settings but the menu names are slightly different. Either that or you're starting from a new pen. What settings come up when try to make a new paint brush?
